ABAETÉ is an investment boutique and multi family office specializing in alternative investments. We operate in a variety of sectors, asset types and credits. Our team has experience in complex situations with a focus on managing and generating value, regardless of the timeframe.
Electricity Sector
Development and implementation of three power transmission concessions in Brazil, two of which remain in the group.
Transmission
Our controlling group operates in the electricity transmission sector through FIP IE Kavom, where the following projects have been developed:
PIRATININGA BANDEIRANTES TRANSMISSORA DE ENERGIA
- Underground line connecting the Piratininga II and Bandeirantes substations in a 345 Kv double circuit and gas-insulated substations (GIS)
OURILÂNDIA DO NORTE TRANSMISSORA DE ENERGIA S.A
- Substation component of the Interconnected Grid, connecting Vale’s nickel processing unit (Onça Puma) to the grid via a 230/138 Kv transformer substation in Ourilândia do Norte, PA, combined with taking over the operation and maintenance of a 180 km 230 Kv line.
- Concession from Auction 13/2015, held in April 2016
CASTANHAL TRANSMISSORA DE ENERGIA LTDA
- Interconnected Grid border substation, serving CELPA’s load in Castanhal, PA (metropolitan region of Belém), at 138 Kv through 2 230/138 Kv transformers, with 150 MVA each
- Concession from Auction 05/2016, held in April 2017
Distributed Generation
We have completed the development and implementation, and operate two ZERO DG projects with a combined installed capacity of 5 MWp, located in Montes Claros, MG, through our investee Solum Montes Claros

Greenfield Project Development
We prospected and developed up to the RTB stage, for implementation by third parties, approximately 140 MWp in GD1 access opinions in the states of SP, GO, DF, RN, CE and BA.
Team
Co-founder and director of Abaeté, Roberto worked for more than 20 years as a lawyer in the infrastructure sector and has worked for more than 10 years as an entrepreneur in the electricity sector, having participated in the development, implementation and operation of generation (hydro and solar) and transmission projects. He has a law degree from PUC-SP, a specialist in business administration from FGV-SP (CEAG) and a master’s degree in law (L.LM) from Duke University (NC, USA).
Co-founder and director of Abaeté, he has more than 16 years’ experience in the infrastructure sector, with experience in electricity, mining and oil & gas. He is the director of the group’s transmission concessionaires and is responsible for the entire development of these concessions, from the pre-auction phase through to implementation and operation. He previously worked as CEO and legal director of a mining operation, and also as a lawyer at major law firms in São Paulo. Sérgio is a lawyer with a law degree from USP, a master’s degree in law from Fundação Getúlio Vargas, and has participated in executive education courses in Brazil (Insper) and abroad (Rice University).
Co-founder of Abaeté, he has more than 20 years’ experience as a lawyer in the restructuring and analysis of illiquid assets sector and more than 10 years as an entrepreneur in the electricity sector. In his legal career, he works in the areas of debt restructuring and stressed asset analysis. He holds a law degree from USP and a post-graduate degree in business law from PUC-SP.
An executive with more than 15 years’ experience in the electricity sector, he has worked for major utilities . He was responsible for developing a portfolio of projects with more than 12GW of installed capacity (wind, solar and hydro). Leonardo is a Civil Engineer from PUC-GO, with an MBA in Project Management from FGV, specializations in Tunnel Engineering/UREN/CBT and Construction Management/UFG-GO and a specialization in Renewable Energy, Distributed Generation and Energy Efficiency at USP.
Abaeté’s head of legal department, with more than 13 years’ experience as a corporate lawyer, having worked for major Brazilian law firms. Graduated in law from Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, with executive education courses at Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV) and Insper. Languages: Portuguese, English and Mandarin.

Distributed Solar Generation (DG)
- Development of a portfolio of more than 140 MW of distributed solar generation in the Southeast, Midwest and Northeast regions
- Project started in 2021 with divestment starting in 2023
- Co-Investment in 5 MW Solar Plant in Minas Gerais
Centralized Solar Generation (CG)
- Development of around 1GW of projects in the Northeast region
- Project under development from 2021
Alternative investments
- Acquisition of Structured Credits and Credit Rights associated with lawsuits and court-ordered debt instruments
- Co-investment in credit operations and acquisition of stressed assets, including “DIP” financing operations in judicial reorganizations
